" she said with a sincere smile to the shopkeep, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere at her side. The little old lady smiled back, just as friendly as she had come to expect people to be here. It was almost hard to believe that such open warmth and hospitality still existed in the world, but it was nice. Her infrequent trips here brought back her faith in humanity. Gently Ceri placed the item back on the shelf, deciding against it. It wasn't something she absolutely needed and she didn't have the money to waste on it anyways. With a nod to the woman who was watching her, she headed toward the doorway to make an exit. At the last moment, a small golden starfish necklace caught her eye; Her mum collected starfish, especially if it was something she could flaunt about, like jewelry. Her mum. Ceri doubted if there was anything she missed about home more than her mum. "Combien coûte-ceci ? (What is the price of this?)" She asked , turning to look over her shoulder with a soft smile. It was surprising to hear how low the price was, but she happily payed it and went on her way.Ceridwyn Wilde strolled along the streets of the Latin Quarter with no particular destination in mind. She just needed to get away from the campus and all that it entailed, and this lovely area of the country was something she enjoyed to explore. It was very different, she had found, from the Sorbonne and its surrounding area. The people were all very friendly and lively, and it wasn't uncommon to hear the cultural music drifting through the windows of the many bistros and shops. It was, almost literally, a breath of fresh air away from the speculation of murders and class assignments. Not to mention the mass tension building between her brother and her...well, she still had no clue what to call Logan. They hadn't made anything official, so he wasn't exactly her boyfriend, but they had definitely gotten a lot closer lately. The worst part was that she honestly didn't know what the hell she was going to do about it. Yeah, she had feelings for him. But her brother was very obviously not cool with them having feelings for each other, and she wasn't completely sure that she wanted to be tied down right now. What was a twenty year old girl to do?
Smiling to the passersby, she slipped into a small, cozy shop which appeared to sell both thrift and handmade items; It made her think of home. Neither areas were really tourist traps, though they had items that some might like. They weren't quite hidden from the world, more like a tucked away treasure trove for her to find. She wandered through the shop, picking up various little trinkets and studying them. "Bonjour.
A quick glance at her cell phone told her the time, surprising her with how long she'd been in the Latin Quarter. Ceri couldn't help it though; It was a happy place, one a bit more secluded, and...what the hell? Another hour or two wouldn't hurt. She loved her friends and the party scene, but even she needed a break sometimes. Spotting her favorite cafe on the end of the street, she made her way there at a leisurely pace, even stopping to smell a flower from one of the street vendors. It was tempting to buy one, but the scent of fresh croissants drifted through the air and to her nose, pulling her away. Walking in the door, she was pleasantly surprised to find her favorite table by the window open and she placed her stuff there without worry. Not only would she only be a few feet away, but the owners knew her well and wouldn't let anything happen to it. "Bonjour" With a grin, she flirted slightly with the older man behind the counter before placing her usual order of coffee and a croissant. It wasn't long before her order was up and she sat at the table, biting into the delicious pastry. What could be better than this?
